Aase Fund 2023 Awards

Sending 2 Top Students to Harvard Conference

We are pleased to announce the Lynn Aase MUN Legacy Foundation has made its first Aase Fund Awards to support two seniors competing at the Harvard Model United Nations conference in Boston January 26-29, 2023. The two awards, of $1,200 each, covered about half of each student’s estimated costs.

HBHS sent 30 seniors to the Harvard conference, where they will represented Kuwait and Mozambique. The Daily Bulletin wrote an article about the travel awards.

The Aase Fund Award students were chosen based upon recommendation of the advisor and an application that asked each student for two written responses to questions: one on why they deserved to go to the conference, and one that explained their financial need circumstances.  A Foundation committee reviewed the applications and made a recommendation to the Board, which approved it.  One of our Board members generously agreed to help fund these first awards so that we can preserve our initial capital fund.  The capital fund, as of Dec 1, 2022, stands at more than $32,000— which is more than halfway to our goal of $50,000 by the 50th anniversary of the HBHS MUN program in July 2023.

On behalf of the students, their parents, the HBHS MUN advisors, and the HBHS MUN Booster Club, we would like to thank you profusely for your encouragement and support in starting the Aase Fund.  I am sure Mr. Aase would be thrilled to see alumni helping current students attend Harvard, which was such an important conference.

Thanks so much for your financial donations, logistical support, and encouragement!
